I am Professor for Migration and Integration at the Danube University Krems (Link).
My current research agenda focuses on societal and political polarization on migration, as well as on ethical dilemmas of migration policy. This current research agenda fits within a broader overarching interest centred on the politics of inclusion and exclusion. More specifically, I am interested in how political action can contribute to overcoming structural injustices and promoting democratic inclusion within ethnically, culturally and socially diverse societies. I have acquired 5 project grants as principal investigator since 2010 totalling 786.596 Euros in acquired funds. Currently, I am the principle investigator of a research project financed by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) entitled "Migration as Morality Politics" (Link) and co-principle investigator of the project "Ethical Dilemmas of Migration Policy", located at the European University Institute in Florence (Link). As of mid-2023, I have published 15 journal articles, most of which in Q1 and Q2 journals (SSCI ranking), as well as 16 book chapters, a prize-winning edited book, and four journal special issues. My research has appeared in leading social science journals such as 'Journal of European Public Policy', 'Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies', 'Political Studies Review', 'Migration Studies', 'Global Networks', 'Religion, State and Society', and the 'European Journal of Migration and Law', among others.
